About this tool
This tool shows the current local time in two cities anywhere in the world and the number of hours between them, based on each location's actual time zone rules rather than a fixed offset.
Time zone math gets complicated fast: offsets aren't always whole hours, daylight saving time shifts at different dates in different countries (and some countries don't observe it at all), and the same city can be a different number of hours away depending on the time of year. This calculator handles all of that automatically.
It's most useful for scheduling calls or meetings across time zones, planning connecting flights, or simply figuring out whether it's a reasonable hour to contact someone abroad.

- Does this account for daylight saving time?
- Yes. Because not every country observes daylight saving time, and those that do switch on different dates, the time difference between two cities can actually change by an hour at certain times of year — this tool always uses each location's current rules.
- Why isn't the time difference always a whole number of hours?
- Some regions use half-hour or 45-minute offsets from UTC rather than whole hours — for example, India (UTC+5:30) and parts of Australia. When one of the two cities uses such an offset, the difference between them won't be a whole number either.
